Brazil experienced an adverse political and economic situation in 2016. Periods of crisis like this tend to pressure and reduce the pace of innovation activities in favor of actions with short-term results. Therefore, greater determination is required of both the industry and the government to carry on the promotion and implementation of innovative projects that involve greater risk and have no immediate impacts.
The Entrepreneurial Mobilization for Innovation (MEI) created in 2008 by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) - Brazil worked in that direction throughout 2016, by advocating in different discussion forums a positive agenda for the country, focusing on increasing the innovation capacity of companies as a strategy for achieving economic and social development.
In this sense, CNI has once again joined the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) in organizing the 7th Brazilian Industry Innovation Summit scheduled to be held at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo (SP), on June 27 and 28, 2017. In an area of 11,000 square meters, the Summit has been planned to host at least 3,000 people, including business leaders; RD&I executives and technicians; representatives of RD&I institutions and sectoral associations; leaders of the Industry System and Sebrae; authorities; and representatives of academia, startups, technology-based companies and innovative small businesses.
Anchored in the topics "to innovate to add value" and "disruptive innovations" and in line with the global economic scenario, the event is an initiative of MEI and reflects the search for opportunities that stimulate the real development of the country, highlighting innovation as a strategy for positioning Brazil among the most competitive economies in the world. The search for opportunities amidst a scenario of uncertainties will focused on, since innovation is the key to finding new solutions and standing out in the market.
