National Innovation Award

Created by MEI, the National Innovation Award is designed to encourage and recognize successful initiatives in the field of innovation and innovation management developed by organizations operating in Brazil.

Held by CNI, SESI, SENAI and SEBRAE, the 2016/2017 edition is supported by IEL, MCTIC, MDIC, MBC, ABDI, Anpei, Anprotec, CAPES, CNPq and Embrapii.

The Award is given to enterprises of all sizes and to companies taking part in SEBRAE’s Local Innovation Agents project.

In 2016, a new evaluation methodology was developed based on international standards. The new methodology has four modalities and two categories, detailed as follows:

  • Modality 1: Companies taking part in SEBRAE’s Local Innovation Agents (ALI) Project
  • Modality 2: Micro or Small Enterprises in the industrial sector
  • Modality 3: Medium Enterprises in the industrial sector
  • Modality 4: Large Enterprises in the industrial sector
  • Innovation Management Category: includes organizations that create an environment conducive to innovation by implementing innovation management processes, methods, techniques and tools. The assessment identifies the level of innovation capacity based on compliance with established principles and on the actual results achieved by the organization.
  • Innovation Category: includes innovations that contributed toward enhancing the company’s competitiveness. The assessment considers the effects produced on the results brought about by the innovation in the organization, according to the definitions set forth in the 3rd edition of the Oslo Manual. This category is divided into the following subcategories:
    • Product innovation: introduction of a good or service that is new or significantly improved with respect to its characteristics or intended uses;
    • Process innovation: implementation of a new or significantly improved production or delivery method;
    • Marketing innovation: implementation of a new marketing method involving significant changes in product design or packaging, product placement, product promotion or pricing.
    • Organizational innovation: implementation of a new organizational method in the firm’s business practices, workplace organization or external relations.

The application period for the Award spanned from September 19, 2016 to January 18, 2017. A total of 3,987 companies from all states applied for the award, representing an increase of 79% as compared to the previous edition.

Until May, companies will undergo three stages of assessment before the award ceremony, which will be held in São Paulo during the 7th Brazilian Industry Innovation Summit. Sixty finalist companies will be presented and up to 20 winners will be announced.

All registered companies receive a report with an assessment of their application for the National Innovation Award. The report is prepared by innovation experts and shows the company’s strengths and opportunities for improving the evidence submitted, as well as comparisons with domestic companies operating in the same industry and of the same size.

Apart from the evaluation report, the winners of the National Innovation Award receive the following awards based on the criteria set out in the regulation:

  • Trophy, national publicity, and publication of results;
  • National Executive Education Course: delivered by an internationally recognized business school;
  • SESI SENAI Call for Innovation Proposals: the project proposals submitted by the winning companies are pre-approved – note that they must comply with the requirements set forth in the call for proposals;
  • InovAtiva Call for Proposals: the winning companies receive 10% extra points in the selection process of the call for proposals in 2017)

Direcionada a micros e pequenas empresas atendidas pelo Programa Agentes Locais de inovação.

Inovação Tecnológica

Valoriza projetos de produtos ou processos que contribuem para o aumento da competitividade da empresa.

Inovação em Modelo de Negócio

Premia a forma como projetos são levados ao mercado a fim de aprimoramento de modelos de negócio capazes de gerar impactos na empresa.

Gestão da Inovação

Reconhece métodos, técnicas e ferramentas de gestão da inovação que estabeleçam ambiente propício ao desenvolvimento de projetos inovadores.

O diferencial do Prêmio Nacional de Inovação é o envio, para todas as empresas participantes, do Relatório de Avaliação, diagnóstico elaborado por especialistas no tema gestão da inovação, que apresenta os pontos fortes e oportunidades de melhoria de gestão dos projetos inovadores e/ou do sistema de gestão inscrito, além de proporcionar o aprimoramento da candidatura da empresa para a próxima edição do Prêmio.

A edição atual alcançou o recorde de 2.219 inscrições vindas de todas as regiões brasileiras e no dia 13 de maio, dentro da programação do 6ª Congresso Brasileiro de Inovação da Indústria, acontecerá a cerimônia de reconhecimento das 12 empresas vencedoras da edição 2014/2015 do Prêmio Nacional de Inovação.

Os vencedores receberão Curso de Educação Executiva com escola de negócios reconhecida internacionalmente, Missão Técnica Internacional e recursos pré-aprovados do Edital SENAI-SESI de Inovação, de acordo com os critérios do regulamento.
