An initiative of the Entrepreneurial Mobilization for Innovation (MEI), the National Innovation Award is organized by the National Confederation of Industry - Brazil (CNI) and the Brazilian Service of Support to Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), in partnership with the Social Service of Industry SESI) and the National Service of Industrial Learning (SENAI).
The National Innovation Award was designed to companies from all over the country in the industrial sector and small businesses from all sectors. The objective is to encourage and recognize companies that innovated and contributed to the increase of Brazil´s competitiveness.
The National Innovation Award - Edition 2018/2019 uses methodology developed and implemented in the previous edition, with two main changes:
- New possibility of recognition in the category "Highlight in Health and Safety at Work", which will recognize innovative good practices related to OSH issues in companies;
- Absence of the modality "Micro or Small Business accompanied by the Local Agents of Innovation Project (ALI)".
Altogether, 1,746 companies registered underwent three stages of evaluation. Of these, up to 54 companies will be in the grand finale. They compete in the following categories and modalities:
Innovation Management: it contemplates organizations that, through the implementation of processes, methods, techniques and tools, have produced a profitable environment for the generation of innovations. The evaluation identifies, simultaneously: (1) the level of innovation capacity, according to adherence to a set of foundations; and (2) the degree of effective results achieved by the organization.
Innovation: it contemplates innovations that contributed to the increase of the levels of competitiveness of the company. The evaluation considers the effects produced by the results of the innovation in the organization, based on the definitions presented in the 3rd edition of the Oslo Manual. This category is further subdivided into four subcategories:
a) Product innovation: recognizes companies that have introduced new or significantly improved goods or services, in terms of their characteristics or intended uses, that have provided positive impacts to the business.
b) Process innovation: it recognizes companies that have implemented new or significantly improved production methods and / or distribution methods that have had a positive impact on the business.
c) Marketing innovation: it recognizes companies that have implemented new or significantly improved marketing methods, including significant changes in product design, packaging, positioning, promotion, or pricing, which have had positive impacts on the business.
d) Organizational innovation: it recognizes companies that have implemented new or significantly improved organizational methods, including business practices, workplace organization or their external relations, which have had a positive impact on the business.
e) Highlight in Health and Safety at Work: it will be awarded to companies that have innovative practices that have produced significant results for the improvement of Health and Safety at Work.
All finalists receive recognition cards. The winners receive a trophy, in addition to the prizes below, according to the regulation:
• National dissemination in digital and printed media;
• Participation in the Immersion Program in Innovation Ecosystems - international edition;
• R $ 900,000.00 pre-approved in development bids;
• 10% extra score in the InovAtiva Brasil program.
The ceremony of delivery of the National Innovation Award will take place on June 10, 2019, at 7:30 p.m., at São Paulo Expo Center.
